"I've caught this magical landscape and it's the enchantment
of it that I'm so keen to render. Of course lots of people will protest that
it's quite unreal, but that's just too bad."
- Claude Monet

Claude Monet's relentless pursuit of his art made him arguably the most
focused and intrinsically talented artist of his day. In his time Monet was obsessively
dedicated to his art and the Impressionist movement yet he still found time to
socialize with the artistic elite. If you happened upon the café of the
'Batignolles' in Paris around 1869, it is possible you would find Monet there
among Degas
and Renoir.
Most Famous For: Claude Monet is considered the true leader of the Impressionist
movement, which takes its name from his painting, Impression:
Sunrise.
